Suwannee District

The district wide net, held on Thursdays at 8:30pm on 146.820 MHz (-) PL123.0 Hz., is averaging around 24 check-ins a week. This is about the same as last month. Please encourage EmComm members in your county to check in.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the SET on October 6. I spoke with ARES(R) members in seven counties. Two pieces of traffic were passed on to the SEC. I got good reports from all of the EC's who participated. A big thanks goes out to Jeff Capehart W4UFL for planning the SET. The seven counties I contacted were Alachua, Columbia, Gilchrist, Levy, Suwannee, Union, and Hamilton.

Alachua County

Alachua County ARES held four nets this month, averaging 21 member check-ins, which was a 75% increase from last month’s average of 12. The increased check-ins were directly attributable to use of the Dialogic automated calling system to remind members by a cell phone or home telephone call to check in to the net. For the month, members earned service credit of 43 hours for ARES nets.

At our monthly ARES training meeting, we had a presentation on the EMWIN system attended by 10 hams for a total of 20 hours service credit. Seven Alachua ARES members participated with and 15 hams checked in to the annual SET on
