October 6 for a total of 25 hours participation.

We had one public service event – the GatorHead Regatta at Newnan’s Lake. 8 hams provided communications in two four hour shifts each for a total of 32 public service hours. The race officials were very appreciative of the service and have invited ARES members back for next year.

I am giving emergency management a 55’ tower that we will have ready to be put up the middle of December.  I will keep you posted and I am putting a list of materials together while I am in recovery.  The first goal for Suwannee County is to: Have antennas ordered in place. Add equipment as funding allows. Provide Communications Training

I am also working with Emergency Management in Union County.

On November 5th my wife will have major surgery and I will have two complete knee replacements on November 15th so I will be limited in my regular activities but I will give a summary report from my AEC’s in Suwannee, Columbia, Hamilton and Union Counties next month.

Between Joe Kilman, Bill Benzing, and myself, we have all equipment necessary and with backups, to meet any communication needs that the Suwannee, Columbia, and Union Counties or EOC’s may encounter.

To all radio amateurs

ARLB023 Riley Hollingsworth, K4ZDH, Special Counsel, Retires Riley Hollingsworth, K4ZDH, Special Counsel in the FCC's Enforcement Bureau, announced his retirement this week, effective Thursday, January 3, 2008. While his successor has not been named, Hollingsworth was quick to point out that the FCC's Amateur Radio enforcement program will continue.

Hollingsworth told the ARRL: "After about a year of thinking about the 'if not now, when?' question, I decided to retire January 3. I love working for the FCC and I've always had great jobs, but this one involving the Amateur Radio Service has been the most fun and I have enjoyed every day of it."

He continues, "For nine years I've worked with the best group of licensees on earth, enjoyed your support and tremendous FCC support and looked forward every day to coming to work. The Amateur Radio enforcement program will continue without missing a beat, and after retirement I look forward to being involved with Amateur Radio every way I can. I thank all of you for being so dedicated and conscientious, and for the encouragement you give us every day."
